A site with local info, product reviews, forums etc. Slightly awkward to navigate at times.

South East London Group
A nice site with details about the South East London Group of the Tandem Club. The maps showing the start points of the rides is particularly clear.

An amazing site with loads of information and links about anything to do with cycling, including a section specific to tandems

BSN Cycling site
Another amazing site with lots of links and an interesting collection of Cycling Science articles.
Includes some interesting online applications, in particular the Tandem CAD program with its stability chart (requires Java to be enabled).

Bicycle Science
A beautifully constructed site explaining some of the science behind cycling. The timeline is also interesting. The site also explains the science behind many other subjects.

A site with news articles on bycycle related subjects

Cyclist Touring Club
The main organisation for every day, commuting and leisure cyclists. A vast range of data is available including touring guides, technical information, a bi-monthly magazine and - most important - third party insurance cover.
There are many local groups of the CTC, quick links to the closest to our area follow:-
CTC West Surrey DA West Surrey District Association of the Cyclist Touring Club. The Coffee and Tea shop listing is especially useful.
CTC East Sussex DA Catering for cyclists in the East Sussex area. Tea shop listing is again very useful
CTC Brighton Section
West Kent CTC Excellent site with a useful set of links and yet another tea shop list.
CTC South London At present a very basic site with just a list of runs

European Bike Express
A well regarded coach service to the continent, featuring a specially designed trailer for all types of bikes, including tandem-tricycles!

BikeCulture Quarterly
A quality magazine with no advertising and alternative articles. The publishers also produce an enCyclopedia which is basically a catalogue of novel and quality bicycles and accessories.

Trento Bike Pages
A fascinating store of information about cycling, including articles by cyclists on their experiences while on tour. Well worth a browse if you are planning a holiday.

Bills Cycle Racing Results Service
Useful for keeping up to date with your idols progress.

Velocity
Another site with details reports and results of the major stage races. Includes excellent maps of the routes.

UK Trailer Co
Importers of the Burley Trailers into the UK. Often they can supply secondhand and refurbished units. Of particular interest to tandem owners are the alternative hitches available, to allow the trailers to be fitted to tandems with drag brakes.

Mountain biking and Lane Cycling in West Sussex, England
A site detailing some routes in West Sussex including Midhurst, Blackdown, Fernhurst, Linchmere and Cocking.
Also includes a useful list of pubs and hotels.

Highpath Engineering
Suppliers of custom made chainrings, sprockets and cassettes. They can supply Marchisio sprockets which are likely to last longer than Shimano units and are availabel in the sprocket combinations you want.
Highpath can also shorten cranks - especially useful when the kids go on the back of the tandem.

Local Information

The National Trust
The national body that looks after many important properties throughout Britain, ranging from small cottages through large stately homes to large areas of land and coastline. They even preserve a canal.

Camelot International
Primarily a hotel chain, but they do provide a showcase of British Heritage in a nicely laid out site.

Sussex Archaeological Society
This society run the Fishbourne Roman Palace, Lewes Castle, Anne of Cleves House, Michelham Priory, Marlipins and The Priest House which are all worth a visit.

Amberley Museum
The open air museum situated near Arundel in West Sussex

Weald and Downland Museum
Interesting old buildings that were at risk of being lost have been carefully dismantled, restored and rebuilt on this site. The museum provides a fascinating insight into how our buildings have evolved through the years, together with the changes in lifestyle and technology.

South East England Tourist Board

An excellent tea stop, with "Pick your own" fruit in season.

A useful site that allows you to obtain a map centred on a certain place, grid reference or post code. It even includes a street map of London with other large towns promised soon. If you have Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 you can select the dynamic runs list on this site and just click on the Grid Reference to see where the start points are!
